COMMISSIONING ANDY

Your Night, Painted

There’s a moment after dark when the city breathes out; streetlights hum, windows glow, and the world feels both quiet and alive. That’s the space I try to depict.

My nocturnes capture mood, the hush, the grit, memory.

Is there a street, a walk home, a place that you specifically relate to? I’ll turn it into a painting that will be yours forever.

Commission slots are now open.

I’m currently focusing on Sheffield scenes, but I’m very much open to painting subjects that are further afield.

Ideas Commission

  • A favourite street at night

  • A favourite corner of the city

  • A favourite building that changes its aspect at night

  • A night walk you can’t forget

  • A moment of home, seen through the dark

  • Something else?

Every commission begins with acrylic underpainting and is finished in oils, using the same atmospheric glow and industrial quiet that defines my nocturne work.

How It Works

1. Tell me your night. Send me the location, details of the place or space or moment you want painted via email or my contact page. Reference photos definitely help, but if in Sheffield I can visit the scene to get a more specific ‘Andy Cropper’ version.

2. We’ll talk colours, light, tone, and what the night and the scene to be depicted means to you. Cool blues? Sodium orange? Deep shadow?

3. I’ll create a photographic sketch to confirm composition and feel. Once you approve, the painting begins.

4. Painting the nocturne:
I work in acrylics at first , building layers of glow, shadow, and quiet. Then complete the painting in oils. You’ll get progress updates if you want them, or you can wait for the reveal.

5. Delivery:
Paintings are shipped securely, tracked, and insured. Local pickup in Sheffield is available.

Why Nocturnes?

Night changes everything. It strips away noise, sharpens light, and turns familiar places into something other. A nocturne isn’t just a painting, it’s a way to hold a memory and feeling.
